PMU Skills 2024 / Competition rules and details

 

1) Method and conduct

The PMUSkills Competition takes place entirely online and is open to participants worldwide. Admission to the competition is completed through registration on the event’s official website, https://www.pmuskills.com/.Each participant may perform their work in their professional studio or any suitable, compliant location that ensures both their own safety and that of their model.*

2) Deadline for submission of work: December 15, 2024

All entries must be submitted by midnight on December 15, 2024 with photo and video submissions for each individual entry and competition category.3) Competition categories and professional experience of participants

The competition is presented in the OPEN formula: all participants may enter all categories, regardless of skill or experience.

4) Competition Specialities:

There are six competition categories. Each entry counts for a single category .

The following is a description of the categories:

Hairstroke with device (Eyebrow hair technique).
PMU Machine device technique on human model, to draw eyebrows as realistically as possible by applying the hair stroke technique.

Eyebrows shading (Eyebrow shading/pixel technique)
PMU Machine device technique on human model, to draw shaded eyebrows, recreating the fade from lighter to darker

Lipstick effect (or Full Lips effect).
PMU Machine device technique on human model, full and compact effect, filling the entire surface of the lips

Eyeliner Shading
PMU Machine device technique on human model, to draw the shaded eyeliner gradually and harmoniously

Eyeliner Graphic

5) Method of performing the work

All work is performed on a human model, on any location. The work must be documented as described on point 11 of this document.6) How to submit your work

Documentary files must be emailed to competition@pmuskills.com via www.wetransfer.com or similar services suitable for sending large files no later than the deadline stated in item 2 of these regulations.

ALWAYS include the following information in the text of the submission email:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Category chosen

7) The Jury

The jury is composed of experienced PMU professionals. Each work will be evaluated with complete anonymity and impartiality. The judgment of the jury is unquestionable.

8) Announcement of winners

There will be three winners in each category:

  • First place
  • Second place
  • Third place

The announcement of the winners will take place about 60 days after the deadline (paragraph 2) for submission of entries, to give the jury a chance to evaluate with serenity. The outcome of the competition will be announced on the event’s official instagram profile and on the website https://www.pmuskills.com/

9) Model Requirements:

The tattoo must be done on clean skin, and the model should have no prior cosmetic tattoos. Models must not have any previous permanent makeup (cosmetic tattooing) treatments in the area of interest, no henna treatments, no cosmetic makeup, or eyelash extensions.

10) Anonymity of work

Entries must be ANONYMOUS in order to be judged impartially.
For this reason, it is forbidden to put one’s logo or any kind of identifying mark on photos and videos, under penalty of exclusion from the competition. The works must be original and never published on any social media or website.11) Production of photo and video documentation

Photos of the work should be taken with the model in an upright position, from a seated position.
Photos should be taken from a distance of about 20-30 cm.
A photo of the initial situation, taken frontally, before tattooing, is essential.

There must be at least three photos of the work:

  • one frontal
  • right lateral
  • left lateral

Neutral lighting

 

A suitable lighting of the treated parts is required. The light temperature for photographs and videos should be as neutral as possible, without any colour dominance. Neutral light has a colour temperature between 3500 and 5300 Kelvin.

 

In the photos, the model will always be seated, with her torso erect and upright, with her face well lit. The photo must be sharp and properly in focus.

It is strictly forbidden to edit the photos, in any way, especially with photo editing programs. It is forbidden to use photographic filters or any other manipulation after the photo has been taken, under penalty of exclusion from the competition.

11.1) Proof of your identity

The regulation requires proof of your identity while doing the work.
You have to record a video of you performing the treatment(s). The video may be accelerated and must be sent along with photo and video documentation of the work.

1 video of the whole face after treatment (duration: maximum 30 seconds)

HOW THE LIP PHOTO AND VIDEO MUST BE TAKEN

1 photo of lips before treatment, full face

1 photo of lips before treatment, close-up
1 photo of the after treatment (close-up). All two corners of the lips must be seen

1 photo of the after treatment (full face)

1 video of the whole face before treatment (duration: maximum 30 seconds)

1 video of the full face and lips close up (max 30 seconds)

1 photo before treatment, full face

1 photo before treatment, close-up
1 photo after treatment, close-up

1 photo after treatment, full face (so that both eyes are seen)
1 photo after treatment, close-up, left eye
1 photo after treatment, close-up, right eye

1 video of the whole face before treatment (duration: maximum 30 seconds)

1 video of the full face and Eyeliner close up (max 30 seconds)
