For over sixteen years Tania Di Nicola has worked at the correction end of permanent makeup — the part of the craft where a bad result isn’t hidden, it’s undone. She is the founder of Studio Sfumature, a beauty studio and academy in Teramo, and works as a Master, trainer and international judge in leading sector competitions.

Her signature is Realistic Cover-up, a method she developed for covering and correcting old, poorly executed work. Her expertise extends into ultra-realistic scalp micropigmentation and paramedical dermopigmentation — 3D areola restoration and Xtrude prosthetic work — fields where she pairs strict technical rigour with a genuine attention to the person and their sense of self.

Today she joins PmuSkills as a judge. What makes her a sharp read on a jury is her daily work: correcting pieces that failed to hold means she can diagnose why they failed — so she scores a competition entry on whether the choices behind it will last, not on how it photographs on day one.

About her work

Tania Di Nicola specialises in corrective and paramedical permanent makeup. Her approach starts from the skin: she reads how previous work has aged, how a pigment has shifted, how the tissue will respond — then plans a result that is stable over time rather than only striking on the day. Alongside her studio work she treats oncology patients free of charge.

Realistic “CoverUp”

Realistic Cover-up is Tania’s own technique for covering and correcting old or poorly executed permanent makeup — reworking colour, shape and symmetry to restore a natural result on skin that has already been treated.

Paramedical work for areola reconstruction (3D areola) and prosthetic restoration (Xtrude), designed to rebuild a realistic appearance after surgery or trauma, with particular care for the person’s image and wellbeing.
